Low Ground on Raleigh's East Side
Hydroseeding in Knightdale takes place on some of the lowest ground in this part of Wake County. The town sits at about 249 feet, on the fall line where the Piedmont gives way to the Coastal Plain, and the Neuse River runs along its edge. Lots that slope toward the river or its side creeks carry runoff downhill, and new grass on those slopes needs time and protection to knit together.
How Mingo Creek opened the south side
In the late 1980s a sewer outfall along Mingo Creek opened the land south of US 64 to development. That is a good example of how utility lines shape where building happens. It also means many neighborhoods sit on slopes leading down to Mingo Creek and its branches, where a well-tacked hydromulch or an erosion control blanket keeps soil out of the stream.
Greenways at the back of the yard
The 3.5-mile Mingo Creek Greenway, finished in 2014, connects to Raleigh's Neuse River Trail by a pedestrian bridge over the river. Homes that back onto a greenway corridor often have a natural buffer below the lawn. We keep seeding and grading on your side of that line and use silt fence along the edge during work.
Steady growth
Knightdale had 11,401 people in 2010 and 19,435 in 2020, a 70.5 percent increase, with new shopping along Knightdale Boulevard and better access after the 2006 bypass and I-540. That growth brings builder lots, commercial pads and new parks, all of which need lawn installation or permanent seeding.
Wet summers
July and August are Knightdale's rainiest months. Summer seeding here is best done with warm-season grass or protected well against storms, and we usually plan fescue lawns for early fall.

Knightdale Questions
My yard slopes down to Mingo Creek. What should go on the slope?
A blanket or bonded fiber matrix with a deep-rooted seed mix is safer than a plain lawn spray.
Can you work right up to the greenway?
We stay on your property, mark the edge, and use silt fence to keep soil off the greenway and out of the creek.
Why plan fescue for fall here?
July and August are the wettest and hottest months, which is hard on new cool-season grass.
Do you seed commercial lots along Knightdale Boulevard?
Yes, including permanent seeding and sediment control for site closeout.
