Keeping Up With Wendell's Growth
Hydroseeding in Wendell mostly follows the bulldozers. Wendell has been named the fastest-growing municipality in North Carolina, going from 5,845 people in 2010 to 9,793 in 2020, with a 2025 estimate near 19,700. Wendell Falls, one of the largest planned communities in the state, accounts for a big share of that, and every finished lot there needs a lawn.
Fertile ground from the start
Wendell was settled in the 1850s by tobacco farmers who left Granville County after a blight called the Granville County Wilt ruined their crops. They moved here for more fertile land. Farm ground does not always survive construction intact, though. Grading strips and compacts topsoil, so we check the surface and spread topsoil back where the builder left subsoil showing.
Little River watershed rules
Part of eastern Wake lies in the Little River watershed, a future reservoir site. A 2008 agreement among Wake County, Raleigh, Wake Forest, Wendell and Zebulon aims to keep development there mostly single-family and steer non-residential uses to designated activity centers. For anyone building in that area, keeping sediment out of streams is part of protecting a future water source.
Big commercial sites
Wendell Commerce Center broke ground in 2025 and is planned for nearly 1.8 million square feet of industrial space. Sites that large need perimeter silt fence, inlet protection, temporary seeding on stockpiles and permanent hydroseeding on slopes and detention areas. That is the construction side of our work here.
On the fall line
Wendell sits where the Piedmont meets the Coastal Plain, where rapids and small waterfalls start to appear in local creeks. Slopes can be short but sharp near those creek crossings, which is where erosion control blankets earn their cost.

Wendell Questions
I just closed on a Wendell Falls home and the lawn is thin. What now?
We look at soil and drainage, then overseed or hydroseed the thin areas. First-year repair is common in new neighborhoods.
Does the Little River watershed affect my project?
If you are in it, expect sediment control to matter. We set silt fence and cover bare soil quickly.
Do you handle large industrial sites?
Yes, from perimeter silt fence to permanent seeding on slopes and ponds.
Is temporary seeding worth it on a stockpile?
On a pile that will sit for weeks, yes. It cuts erosion and dust until the soil is used.
